I am an animal artist living and working in Bath, Somerset. I started painting and drawing a few years ago after a long career working in an office. I studied for an online diploma in Pet Portraiture, through which I tried out different media and found I particularly enjoy working with pastel pencils. I am developing my skills with acrylic paints and I'm still learning and trying out new things.

I draw inspiration from the natural world, wildlife and pets. I started drawing as a child when I had a passion for everything to do with horses, and many years later I still love drawing horses! I use reference photographs to create my portraits, which can be a head study, a whole animal, or a composition of animals against a simple background. I enjoy the challenge of creating a likeness that I am pleased with.

Painting is something in which I can lose myself and is a great way to quieten my mind and live in the moment. It is also a way of appreciating the beauty that is all around us. It helps me to look at things in depth and notice the finer detail.

An animal portrait is the perfect way to capture your pet and makes a wonderful gift. I will work from your chosen photographs to capture your pet at their best, in your favourite pose.  Please do contact me to discuss any questions that you may have.
